Course Description

'Very interesting and enjoyed exploring equipment options and techniques'.

Discover the different features, uses and applications of rails and the implications of the various attachment surfaces. An overview of relevant regulations and anthropometrics is also covered in this half day session. Rails from various suppliers will be available for trial.

The focus is on:

  • product comparison
  • practical application
  • applying clinical reasoning to grab rail selection and assessment

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the training, participants will have:

  • been introduced to the regulations associated with grab rails and their installation
  • gained an understanding of current research on uses of grab rails
  • investigated the different uses for grab rails
  • used clinical reasoning skills to determine which grab rail to use for which application
  • been introduced to the different features of rails
  • gained an overview of the implications of different attachment surfaces

Cancellation & Refunds

When a cancellation is unavoidable:

  • request a refund up to 7 days prior to the course (less 10% admininstration fee)
  • request a postponement to another time withing 6 months

The ILC reserves the right to cancel a course when there are unforeseen circumstances. Notification of cancellation will be given by phone. If we cannot place the applicant in another course, we will refund the full amount.

The ILC is accessible for people with a disability. Additional learning support during training and assessment can be arranged with prior notice.

Sue has more than 22 years clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist. She has extensive experience in paediatrics, aged care, assistive technology, manual handling and Access consultancy. Sue has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
