Course Description

Facilitator was excellent with great real life examples.

This half day course covers all aspects of seating in the home environment, including lounge chairs, dining chairs, the home office and commercially available supports.

Topics covered include:

  • Biomechanics of seating
  • Common seating issues
  • Features of household seating
  • Commercially available supports

Learning Outcomes

At the of the training participants will be able to:

  • understand the correct biomechanics of seating
  • identify functional goals of seating
  • differentiate between the ready posture and the relaxation posture
  • describe the various pelvic and spinal presentations that impact on seating
  • revise correct manual handling regarding sit to stand techniques
  • identify factors in chair prescription
  • review alternatives to purchasing a new chair.

Cancellation & Refunds

When a cancellation is unavoidable:

  • request a refund up to 7 days prior to the course (less 10% admininstration fee)
  • request a postponement to another time withing 6 months

The ILC reserves the right to cancel a course when there are unforeseen circumstances. Notification of cancellation will be given by phone. If we cannot place the applicant in another course, we will refund the full amount.

The ILC is accessible for people with a disability. Additional learning support during training and assessment can be arranged with prior notice.

Anne has worked as a Physiotherapist for over 30 years and has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She has worked in Australian city and country public and private hospitals and in several developing countries. Anne has also worked in private practice.
